A few tunes I've been spinning on the replay lately...

I've been digging ALL of MisterWives recently so of course one of their songs made it on to another CTL playlists, BØRNS' "10,000 Emerald Pools" is the highlight song of the list and "Show Me Love" is that song from the Coca-Cola Super Bowl commercial you instantly fell in love with (ok, maybe I'm just speaking for myself here).

What songs have you been listening to lately? Let me know below!

Snow Day Playlist

If you live on the northeast coast of the US, you most likely have a snow day. The media and meteorologists warned that the blizzard of the decade would hit last night/today but all it was, was hype. Due to the hype these past few days, lost of offices pre-closed (including mine!!) even though we didn't get the three feet of snow I was hoping for :( Regardless, you'll want to cozy up at home today with a cup of hot cocoa and this playlist. Happy snow day!

A New Way to Discover Music

One of my favorite ways to find new music is going on to artists’ personal pages (such as Myspace, Tumblr, Facebook, etc.) and seeing what they are listening to. Their music selections are usually similar to the music they make and are influenced by, which often means that I’m into it. The cool thing about Myspace was the option to have a music player with a little playlist selected by the user. Myspace is pretty outdated now though but there are still ways to listen to what your favorite artists are listening to.

  1. Some artists create playlists using Spotify to share what they are currently listening to. You can then subscribe to them and find out whenever they add more songs to their playlists. I found out about this after reading Stephen Gomez’s (Bassist of The Summer Set) personal tumblr blog and seeing a link to his Spotify.
  2. Some newspapers and magazines sometimes have this feature. Newspapers such as The New York Times occasionally have artists share their favorite songs, both old and new. These features are usually in the Arts section or the Arts & Leisure section. Also look into Rolling Stone and Spin for this feature as well.
  3. Some websites and blogs have this feature as well. One really cool website that does this is mog.com. It has a section titled “Playlists Created by Artists” that has playlists by artists such as Thom Yorke, Norah Jones and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. It even has a playlist created by comedic actor Zach Galifianakis!

So if you are in the need of a change in your music listening give any of these suggestions a try!
