Foodify - Pizza!

IMAGE VIA ME

IMAGE VIA ME

This Foodify, pizza and Italian music, makes perfect sense but it goes a little deeper than that. Living at home has its pros and cons, a pro being that my parents still cook me dinner (!!!), a con being that I am a useless adult who doesn’t cook herself dinner. Because I am not in charge of the menu every night, and my dad LOVES to cook pizza, we eat pizza on the regular and by that I mean like 2 times a week. Also, every time we eat pizza, according to my dad, it is a must that we listen to the Passione soundtrack. This gets old real quick, especially since it has been over a year since he discovered the cd. Regardless, it was nice and appropriate at first so I advice you to try it! (just maybe not twice a week for a year..). I have no idea how my parents make their pizza but I know it includes homemade pizza sauce, store bought pizza dough and fresh mozzarella. You can purchase the mozzarella at a local deli and the dough at your supermarket or bakery but for the tomato sauce you can try out this recipe below.

And with the ending of another month comes another CTL playlist with some of the songs I've been jamming to this March. (If you watch Broad City, you will notice that I've been binge watching it recently as 57% of the songs are from the show.) Other songs were discovered on SNL (George Ezra's 3/28 performance), Hypemachine (Phoebe Ryan) and Purity Ring's new album, another eternity.

What did YOU listen to this month? Comment below with the songs you loved in March!

New Beginnings

IMAGE VIA ME

With changes and new beginnings comes an array of mixed emotions. I am currently in the midst of a job switch and while I am pretty nervous, I’m SO excited. This playlist consists of songs that will sooth my nerves with familiar, comforting songs but also songs that will pump me up and make me feel ready for anything. Some of these songs helped me relax before the SATs (Metro Station's "Kelsey"), job interviews ("The Only Living Boy In New York," Simon & Garfunkel), bumpy airplane rides ("Stay Illogical" by Under The Influence of Giants) and the first day of college (The White Stripes' "Blue Orchid).

While this list was created with the intention of preparing me for my first day, it can really be translated to anyone’s new beginning whatever it may be. Here’s to my first day.. wish me luck!

#FBF Spring Break: Miami

IMAGE VIA ME

IMAGE VIA ME

#tbt (but really Flash Back Friday because I missed Thursday) to when I was in Miami this time 2 years ago :( I guess I’m past the days when spring break was a thing because, ya know.. jobs. Missing the sun and the pool and the clubs and the beach but most importantly, the music. Check out the playlist I created with songs I added before and after my Miami trip. This playlist is perfect for anyone in Miami, going to Miami, on spring break in general or pretending they are on spring break (aka me).

As you can tell from this week's cover photo, I'm over winter and the cold, as is everyone I'm sure. With another winter month down, spring is on the horizon.. HALLELUJAH. Before we leave February in the dust, here is a playlist of the songs I've been listening to for the second half of the month.

This playlist is a mix of new songs and songs I recently re-discovered. Favorites on the list: Nicki Minaj's "Truffle Butter," "Dystopia (The Earth Is On Fire)" by YACHT and "Lost Stars" by Adam Levine (kind of lame, I know, but I re-fell in love with it after seeing his performance at the Oscars).

PSA: if you haven't already googled 'Truffle Butter,' DON'T. I'm still gagging... Also, Lil Wayne's rap in this song is the most amazing rap ever. A bit dirty for my little ears but it is so, so good.

What songs were you obsessed with in February? Comment below!

Valentine's Day Playlist <3

Some people LOVE Vday while others despise it, but whether or I was single or in a relationship, I've always been pretty neutral about the holiday. Getting chocolates and mugs from my mom as a kid and surprise Dominoes deliveries from my parents in college or going to the movies to see romantic comedies with friends was equally as awesome as having a candlelight dinner with a boyfriend. With any situation I advise you to just embrace the day, whether with your bae, family, friends or alone.

No matter who you are spending your Valentine's Day with, or what you are doing, spend the day of love listening to these songs of love...

You guy know the drill... Here are the songs I've been listening to since the start of January. This playlist includes a current favorite: "Mourning Doves" by Mikky Ekko. I'm a sucker for anything Mikky Ekko, because, that voice... If you don't know who he is, you may recognize him from the male vocals in Rhianna's "Stay With Me." Also featured- Childish Gambino, Purity Ring, Cold War Kids and more. If you're in the need for new music, these songs can definitely fix that problem.

Artist Spotlight- Charli XCX

A few weeks ago, Charli XCX released her third full-length album titled, SuckerSucker is jam packed with catchy pop/punk tunes that are bound to be hits, in fact it's so catchy it's hard for me to pick a favorite song. I mean, the 22-year-old wrote Icona Pop's ridiculously catchy hit "I love it," as well as wrote and sang the hook for Iggy Azalea's "Fancy," another extremely successful song. While Charli is no stranger to creating hits, she's ready to break out of the songwriter/background singer role and have her own chart topping tunes.

Although her newest album is pretty different from her last, moody/dark/electropop album, True Romance, it's still very much Charli. I LOVED True Romance, so when I first heard Charli's new songs off Sucker as they were released by single, I was a little disappointed and worried for the album as a whole. When listening to the whole album, I had a completely different reaction. It's a great album, and will for sure appeal to more people than True Romance ever did.  Even though some may call her a sellout claiming her songs are too mainstream, there is no denying that these songs are damn good. In an interview with NME, Charli stated, "I'm not making a hipster album." And she most definitely didn't.

While Charli has tamed it down since her True Romance days, she still doesn't completely blend in with today's pop artists. Her crazy, wild hair was more put together for her recent performances on SNL, the Late Show, etc., but she still had her unique outfits and dance moves. Maybe that's just growing up though..

Below is her newest music video for her single "Breaking Up," this video is a balance between old Charli and mainstream Charli (but maybe a little more mainstream). It does have similarities to old True Romance music videos while still appealing to the masses. I do miss old Charli, but I'm excited for everyone to at least know who she is and experience the magic that is Charli XCX. Check out her new music video and stream Sucker below.

IMAGE VIA ME

Holy cow Christmas is coming up quick. I am way behind on my Christmas listening fill for the year so between now and Thursday, I'm doubling up. If you're in the same boat, listen to my new Christmas playlist below. I made this list for this year's listening and it includes a mix of my favorite old classics as well as some new faves. While I thought I had plenty of time before the holiday and actually thought I was ahead of the game for once, I am not. So get your shopping done and those cookies baked, we got t-minus 6! Which is both exciting and nerve wracking.

And can't forget this one...
